Light Agro Skills builds community-led agricultural structures in Uganda with a focus on women, youth, and marginalized smallholders.
Community Mobilisation & Inclusive Programming
Top-down agricultural interventions fail because they treat farmers as passive recipients rather than active leaders. At Light Agro Skills, our community mobilisation strategy is rooted in grassroots engagement, trust, and local leadership. We work directly with community elders, local government leaders, and smallholder households across 21 districts to build organized, self-sustaining farmer groups.
By embedding gender equity and youth inclusion into group governance from day one, we ensure that agricultural development creates real economic opportunities for those who need them most.
Core Mobilisation & Inclusion Activities
What we deliver
- Grassroots Farmer Group Mobilisation: Forming and structuring village-level groups, cooperatives, and producer associations tailored to local social dynamics.
- Women's Economic Empowerment: Establishing women-centric Farmer Field Schools, flexible meeting schedules, and targeted leadership pipelines in farmer group governance.
- Youth Agribusiness Modules: Engaging young people (under 35) through digital agriculture skills, high-value value chains, and agricultural entrepreneurship.
- Village Savings & Loans Associations (VSLAs): Integrating community-managed savings and credit structures to overcome formal financial access barriers.
- Participatory Planning & Safeguarding: Implementing robust community safeguarding protocols, conflict resolution frameworks, and participatory decision-making.
Whether you are designing a gender-transformative agriculture project, a youth livelihood initiative, or a community-led development programme, Light Agro Skills brings the field reach and local trust needed to deliver measurable results.
