1. What does Light Agro Skills Limited do?
Light Agro Skills Limited is a Ugandan agribusiness enterprise and development implementation partner. We combine hands-on agricultural extension, market systems development, digital agriculture, and climate-smart solutions to improve smallholder farmer productivity, strengthen supply chains, and build resilient agricultural communities.

Light Agro Skills Limited operates as an agribusiness enterprise and professional development implementation partner rather than a conventional NGO. We bring commercial approaches, technology systems, and structured evidence frameworks to agricultural development, partnering with donors, INGOs, government agencies, and private sector buyers.
3. Which regions and districts in Uganda do you operate in?
Since 2018, we have expanded operations across 21 districts in four major regions of Uganda, including Jinja, Iganga, Kamuli, Mayuge, Bugiri, and Namayingo in Eastern Uganda; Wakiso, Masaka, Mukono, and Mpigi in Central Uganda; Mbarara, Bushenyi, Sheema, and Ntungamo in Western Uganda; and Lira, Gulu, Oyam, and Alebtong in Northern Uganda.
4. What is your current reach and impact across Uganda?
To date, our field operations have directly supported over 5,320 smallholder farmers organised into 197 farmer groups. We manage a network of 84 aggregation centres and have facilitated the marketing of more than 2,000 tonnes of agricultural produce. Additionally, our programmes maintain 72% female participation and 69% youth involvement.
5. What primary value chains do you work with?
We focus on five main agricultural value chains tailored to regional markets, driving production and market access across honey and apiculture through modern hive management and buyer linkages; cereals by supporting production, post-harvest handling, and aggregation for maize, sorghum, and millet; horticulture through Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and direct market connections for fruits and vegetables; tree planting and agroforestry to enhance soil health, climate resilience, and farmer incomes; and climate-smart crops through conservation agriculture and resilient farming systems.
6. How do you integrate technology into your agricultural programmes?
Our digital agriculture suite delivers field transparency, real-time tracking, and data-driven decisions across the value chain. By combining GPS-mapped farmer profiles, mobile data collection via ODK and KoboToolbox, and end-to-end crop traceability, we connect smallholders to verified buyers, empower them with real-time market prices, and provide donors with live analytics dashboards.
7. How can donors, INGOs, or government agencies partner with you?
We act as a field-tested implementation partner for development projects. Organisations can collaborate with us through direct service contracts, sub-grant implementation, joint proposal development, or MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning) support. 8. How do you support women and youth in agriculture?
Gender equity and youth inclusion are embedded directly into our programme design. We establish dedicated women-focused Farmer Field Schools, mandate female representation in farmer group leadership, offer youth agribusiness modules, and connect women and youth to local VSLAs and microfinance institutions.
9. How can smallholder farmers or local cooperatives join your programmes?
Farmer groups, SACCOs, and individual farmers in our operational districts can participate by contacting our regional field agents or reaching out via our central office. We work with established groups as well as newly mobilized community clusters, providing training in Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), access to aggregation networks, and direct linkages to off-taker markets.
